Mana-sama is popular among his haters as weirdo or gay, but as for myself, his fan, he is the most creative and inspirational person i have ever learned about. And he's not a gay! *I'll explain that later^^*

In his entire life, just like the rest of us, he had his own little quirks. But what makes him different, he is not afraid to go out and do the things that most people will probably never accomplish in their lifetime.

Unlike any other mononymous person we've known, NOBODY except the people in his personal life knows his real name or even his age. So many rumors in the internet about his various names such as Manabu Satou and ages ranging anywhere from early thirties to his late forties.
For now or probably forever, his fan will simply know Mana as Mana. Also his age probably forever unknown.

About Mana (sources: wikipedia, mana-sama.net, etc2)

Born: March 19
Origin: Hiroshima, Japan
Instruments: Guitar,Keyboard,Bass, Drums
Pets: Sea-Monkey
At an early age, Mana was introduced to classical music by his parents, who were both music teachers; classical music has remained an influence ever since. Mana has said that he started making music when he was in high school, at which time he listened to Mötley Crüe. Typically, Mana's compositions blend classical music (especially baroque music, featuring pipe organ and harpsichord; he also likes music by Johann Sebastian Bach) with heavy metal music, alternative rock, industrial music and other more unlikely elements such as French pop music. In a 2006 interview, Mana revealed that he has no formal training in music theory.

Project History

1. Mana's first known bands were Girl'e, a punk band active around 1989-1990; and Matenrou (摩天楼, Skyscraper?), active 1990-1992.

2. After Matenrou's dissolution in April 1992, Mana and guitarist Közi founded Malice Mizer in August of that year. Mana was the band's lead guitarist, chief songwriter, choreographer and overall artistic director. He also founded his own indie music label, MidiːNette (http://www.midi-nette.com/), on which most of Malice Mizer's work was released. In Malice Mizer, Mana dressed clearly as a girl. In the Klaha Era, his style became more funeral goth oriented.

3. After Malice Mizer went on an indefinite hiatus in 2001, Mana founded his solo project, Moi dix Mois. He composes all of Moi dix Mois' music, writes the lyrics, produces, directs and designs the project members' stage costumes. His own outfits are usually dresses, but Mana has performed in pants with a cape-like coat over it.

Clothing Range

It is said that Mana is widely figurehead of Gothic Lolita fashion movement.

In 1999, Mana created his own clothing label, Moi-même-Moitié, which features two lines of designs named Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. Mana continues to regularly appear in the scene's top publication, the Gothic & Lolita Bible, modeling his own designs and giving updates on his various other projects

Public Behaviour

Mana has rarely intentionally smiled or spoken in public, speculated to be because his voice sounds like an Alabama trucker. In his filmed interviews, he whispers into the ear of a band member or confidante, who then relates his words back to the interviewer. He has also been known to simply look at the camera as subtitles appear, as well as using Yes/No cards and expressing himself in mime. According to him, this is because he considers his music to be his voice, and he is shy and sees no point in communicating with people who he doesn't share interests with.

He has, however, spoken on a few occasions. At a 1996 Malice Mizer interview on the TV show Hot Wave, he apparently accidentally replied with his name and his position in the band when introduced on the show. Throughout the rest of the interview, Mana whispered in Gackt's ear.

In another interview, promoting their single Gekka no Yasoukyoku he was sitting on the floor. When the interviewer went to Mana and asked him if he was okay because he was sitting on the floor, he said "because it will make a cute picture!"

He has also offered his vocals to Kyomu no Naka de no Yuugi, though his voice was heavily distorted. In addition in the song and single, Saikai no Chi to Bara, he is rumored to be the one whispering at 4:01 and 4:52, also you can see him whispering in the live during that song.

He's also rumored to be the unknown former support member of Moi dix Mois, "Shadow X".
