Moi dix Mois (モワディスモワ) is a Japanese musical project founded by Malice Mizer's front, Mana. As part of the visual kei movement it is marked by Mana's selection of guest performers rather than a typical band structure, and exhibits a combination of classical elements of gothic metal.
Apart from playing guitar, Mana composes all of Moi dix Mois' music and lyrics, arranges, produces, and designs the stage costumes and acts as overall artistic director. In contrast to Mana's previous bands, Moi dix Mois is explicitly billed as Mana's solo project; while the project members have input during the performance and recording of the music, Mana essentially determines the band's artistic direction on his own. All of Moi dix Mois' music is released via Mana's own independent record label, Midi:Nette.
Since the debut release of the single "Dialogue Symphonie", Moi dix Mois has released four singles, four full albums, and one mini-album.
History
March 19, 2002, approximately three months after Malice Mizer announced their indefinite hiatus, Mana announced the formation of his solo project, Moi dix Mois. Their first single, "Dialogue Symphonie", was released October 19 of the same year.
Moi dix Mois played their first concerts outside Japan in March 2005 in Munich, Germany and Paris, France as part of their Invite to Immorality Tour. After the tour's final engagement on April 24, 2005 in Tokyo, singer Juka left the band.
A new stage of the band began on March 1, 2006, when they released the album, Beyond the Gate. This featured a new vocalist named Seth. Before the album was released, Mana indicated that the sound would mean the beginning of a renewed direction for the band, possibly more integrated towards electronic music. After the announcement of the Beyond the Gate release was made, Seth's identity was revealed as the new vocalist, and it was announced that Kazuno (bass) and Tohru (drums) were also leaving the group.
On March 28, 2007, Moi dix Mois released their fourth album, Dixanadu; the first album with the current lineup.
Band's Name
The band's name, which literally translates from French as "me ten months", has special meaning to Mana. "Moi" stands for his debut as a solo artist; "Dix" stands for the number ten and while one symbolizes the beginning of something, zero means something similar to "eternity"; "dix mois", again, means "ten months", the average time a baby grows inside its mother's womb before being born (the Japanese traditionally count gestation in lunar months).
Project Member History
Moi dix Mois has experienced numerous lineup changes.
Originally the lineup included:
Mana – guitar
Juka – vocals
Kazuno – bass
Tohru – drums
Juka and Kazuno were employed from Moi dix Mois' conception, with Tohru being a support drummer originally. Tohru officially joined with the release of Shadows Temple in May 2004. K was introduced as guitarist and death vocalist with the Dis Inferno III event in December 2004.
At the end of the Invite to Immorality Tour on April 24, 2005, Juka announced that he would be leaving. It was announced that Kazuno and Tohru would also be leaving with the release of Beyond the Gate. At the same time, Seth was announced as being added to the project as vocalist.
Sugiya and Hayato provided live support until the release of "Lamentful Miss", which included them for the first time as full members.
The current lineup consists of:
Mana – guitar
Seth – vocals
K – guitar and vocals
Sugiya – bass
Hayato – drums

Mana-sama is popular among his haters as weirdo or gay, but as for myself, his fan, he is the most creative and inspirational person i have ever learned about. And he's not a gay! *I'll explain that later^^*

It is said that Mana is widely figurehead of Gothic Lolita fashion movement.
In 1999, Mana created his own clothing label, Moi-même-Moitié, which features two lines of designs named Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. Mana continues to regularly appear in the scene's top publication, the Gothic & Lolita Bible, modeling his own designs and giving updates on his various other projects

Public Behaviour
He has, however, spoken on a few occasions. At a 1996 Malice Mizer interview on the TV show Hot Wave, he apparently accidentally replied with his name and his position in the band when introduced on the show. Throughout the rest of the interview, Mana whispered in Gackt's ear.
In another interview, promoting their single Gekka no Yasoukyoku he was sitting on the floor. When the interviewer went to Mana and asked him if he was okay because he was sitting on the floor, he said "because it will make a cute picture!"
He has also offered his vocals to Kyomu no Naka de no Yuugi, though his voice was heavily distorted. In addition in the song and single, Saikai no Chi to Bara, he is rumored to be the one whispering at 4:01 and 4:52, also you can see him whispering in the live during that song.
He's also rumored to be the unknown former support member of Moi dix Mois, "Shadow X".

Malice Mizer (マリス・ミゼル; Marisu Mizeru) is a visual kei rock band from Japan. They were active from January 1992 to December 2001. Formed by Mana and Közi, the band's name stands for "malice and misery", extracted from "nothing but a being of malice and misery" — their reply to the question "what is human?". Their earlier music and themes were characterized by their strong French and classical influences, later moving away from deliberate French romanticism and incorporating Gothic-Victorian aspects after several tragedies befell the band. Despite the stated archetypes, Malice Mizer is best recognized as a thoroughly original entity.
Malice Mizer is as famous for their music as for their live shows, featuring lavish historical costumes and stage sets, short silent theatre pieces preluding various songs, whimsical dance routines, and even a particularly notable instance of the vocalist descending to Earth (the stage) as a fallen angel, only to ascend again at the end of the concert. Throughout their history, the band has gone through several different lineups and three drastic image changes.
On December 11, 2001, it was announced that Malice Mizer would go on an indefinite hiatus.
However, as Mana recently wrote on his homepage, three of the four members (Mana, Közi and Yu~ki) have regained frequent contact with each other from the middle of 2008, and on December 27, seven years after the hiatus started, Mana and Közi finally met again on stage along with members from Moi dix Mois to perform in front of the fans with a session concert. They also performed together during the "Deep Sanctuary"-concert the 17th and 19th of July, delivering great happiness to the many Malice Mizer fans.
